While it’s still early days for any kind of Oscar talk, actress Annette Bening could be a heavy contender for Best Actress thanks to her performance in the forthcoming dramedy 20th Century Women. Take a look at the brand new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the late 1970s, single mother Dorothea Fields begins to teach her teenage son about the meaning of love and life with the help of two other women at the end of a very turbulent decade.
Director Mike Mills looks to have built his film around Bening’s Dorothea, and this makes for a point of difference in an age where cinemas has become more concerned with narrative than actual character development. Mills also captures the unique time setting of 1970s Santa Barbara with period-correct production detail and a spot on soundtrack.
Accompanying Bening in 20th Century Women is an eclectic cast that includes Elle Fanning, Greta Gerwig and Billy Crudup.
20th Century Women will be released in cinemas on December 25 just in time for Oscar season.
