We’re less than a month from the release of Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the director ,along with his cast, have opened up about the film in a brand new featurette.
Check it out below:
Part of the featurette’s focus is devoted to the sense of boyhood wonder that gripped Edwards while he was on the set of Rogue One. “It’s like the world’s greatest toy set. It’s a bit like being that kid again with Star Wars figures. It’s been a lot of fun, and it’s been the greatest job in the world,” said Edwards.
And Edwards wasn’t the only one whose childhood was recaptured by the film with actor Diego Luna, who portrays Rebel Alliance intelligence officer Captain Cassian Ander, saying “these films, these characters, this story I grew up with. It’s a whole world I’ve been thinking about for quite a long time.” Luna also offered insight into the do-or-die battle that awaits the Rebel Alliance in Rogue One, and described the characters as heroes who are willing to risk everything in order to triumph over The Empire, no matter the cost.
Rogue One will be a unique addition to the Star Wars universe thanks to its ensemble cast that features a diverse group of characters who band together in order to steal the Death Star plans from the grips of Darth Vader and The Empire. Edwards also commented that Rogue One will explore the formation of the Rebel Alliance, and that he and his team looked to George Lucas’s original work in 1977’s A New Hope when crafting the world of Rogue One for the big screen.
Prepare to witness a brand new side of the Star Wars universe when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is released in cinemas on December 15 in New Zealand and Australia and in the US and UK on December 16.
