New ‘La La Land’ featurette highlights the hard work put in to make a musical masterpiece
If there’s one film gaining more and more Oscar buzz by the minute, it’s Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, starring the gorgeous pairing of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.
A new featurette has now been released, and shows off just how hard the cast and crew worked to create a classic-looking musical to rival those from the golden age of Hollywood.
On casting Stone and Gosling, Chazelle commented “When we were casting up the movie, part of the appeal to me was that you know Ryan and Emma, they’re going to be a couple. You can see them and imagine them together. It was like Fred and Ginger or Bogart and Bacall. A classic Hollywood screen couple.”
Gosling also revealed how his involvement in the film was a dream come true. “It was a secret wish of mine to make a film in the style of musicals from the 30s and 40s,” he says. Check out the dazzling featurette below:
While Stone and Gosling are enjoying high praise for their performances so far, the film also features the talents of J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Rosemarie DeWitt, and musician and singer John Legend.
La La Land will be released in cinemas on December 2 in the US and UK, and will then make its way into cinemas in New Zealand and Australia on December 26.
