Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are stepping out into the unknown in director Morten Tyldum’s engaging science-fiction drama Passengers, and the new trailer highlights the all too real dangers of their cosmic journey.
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the future, Passengers follows the Starship Avalon on its 120-year journey to reach the distant colony planet known as Homestead II. But when one of the ship’s sleeping containers opens prematurely, mechanic Jim Preston (Pratt) is awoken 90 years early and makes the bold decision to open the pod of another traveler, Aurora Dunn (Lawrence), in an effort to find a lifemate and some kind of existence in this vast and empty place.
Not only does the new trailer find Aurora and Jim in imminent danger from a failing starship, but it also draws out a considerable level of tension from a far-reaching conspiracy that the pair of them stumble upon. In relation to the chemistry that is shared between the two actors, Lawrence and Pratt clearly make a great couple, and we can’t wait to see how their relationship unfolds on screen.
Passengers will be released in cinemas on December 21 in the US and on January 1, 2017 in New Zealand and Australia.
