The first official cast snap from the upcoming Star Wars spin-off has been released!

The picture, which debuted on Twitter, shows Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, sporting a a hair do similar to Harrison Ford’s in Star Wars: A New Hope, as well as grin totally appropriate for someone who is the newly-appointed Captain of the Millennium Falcon. Ehrenreich is surrounded by cast mates Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Donald Glover, and Finnish basketball player Joonas Suotamo in full wookie costume as Chewbacca. Absent from this class pic is ‘Westworld’ star Thandie Newton, who has also been cast in the film.
Also pictured are Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who are co-directing the film which is currently being shot at Pinewood Studios in London.
The film is set to be released in May 2018, and it will follow the adventures of the iconic smuggler and his right-hand wookie before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Production has only just begun at Pinewood Studios, but with a cast of this calibre I can barely contain my excitement for this release. To (mis)quote my favourite scoundrel: I got a good feeling about this!
