It’s official! Matt Reeves is on his way to Gotham City and will be taking the helm of The Batman alongside Ben Affleck.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Reeves appointment as director, and given the talent that he has displayed with films such as Cloverfield, Let The Right One In, and the Planet of the Apes franchise, you can expect that he’ll bring something special to the DC Cinematic Universe.
One fan of Reeves’ appointment is star Ben Affleck, who will return to star as Bruce Wayne/Batman along with acting as both a producer and writer on the project. The Academy Award winner even took to Instagram to welcome in his new director:
While there are very few details about the plot it has been confirmed that Joe Manganiello will be appearing as the film’s main antagonist Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke, a mercenary killer with a grudge to bear against the Dark Knight.
With Reeves’ involvement production should hopefully kick off soon, with a release date set sometime in 2018.
