The new Justice League trailer is here, and it’s an example of epic cinema at its best. Here’s a list of our five favourite moments from the seductive teaser:
5. Key supporting players
Something that we did not expect to see in the new trailer were the film’s important supporting characters. But see them we did, including Amber Heard’s Mera, The Queen of Atlantis, and Billy Crudup as Dr. Henry Allen, the wrongfully convicted father of Barry Allen. Their presence in the trailer could be an indication of the importance that Justice League will place on character development and relationships.
4. “Organic and biomegatronic bodyparts. He’s a Cyborg.”
Until now, Ray Fisher’s Victor Stone/Cyborg has merely been teased in the DC Cinematic Universe. But make no mistake – his appearance in Justice League will be a crucial to the film’s storyline. As a literal physical embodiment of a Mother Box, it’s likely that arch villain Steppenwolf will be placing a lot of attention on capturing Cyborg. Fisher will likely draw on his background as a Shakespearian actor to tease out the tragedy that turned Victor Stone from star football player into a hunk of metal and cybernetics.
3. The Speedforce
Rising star Ezra Miller appears to be having a ball as the fast talking, quick thinking Barry Allen, and has long voiced his pleasure at the fact that the character’s scientific learnings will be brought to the screen. This is will be amplified by the idea of the Speedforce, which is teased in the new trailer, and will likely see Miller’s Allen break the speed of sound and possibly light itself.
2. “My turn.”
While Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is undoubtedly the elder statesman of the group, don’t expect him to just sit there and delegate. Batman is bringing both a newly designed Batmobile, and a hulking mech-like battle tank that should certainly help him lay waste to Steppenwolf’s army of Parademons.
1. The Age of Heroes
The world needs heroes and they’ll certainly get them here with Justice League. These characters have always appeared as icons of the modern age, drawing upon archetypal learnings and philosophies that essentially makes them modern-day Greek gods. They tower above mere mortals and are ready to fight and die to save all of humanity, and the Earth itself.
Director Zack Snyder appears to have brought this thematic quality to the big screen thanks to fantastic cinematography, costume design, special effects, and five amazing performers
Justice League will arrive in cinemas on November 16 in New Zealand and Australia, and on November 17 in the US and UK.
