He’s regarded as one of the greatest martial artists of all time and redefined how we watched action movies, and now Bruce Lee’s passion project is on its way to the small screen.
Titled Warrior, the series was in development for four years before Lee died. It was also a precursor to the famed Kung Fu series, which Lee was intended to star in before it was recast with David Carradine.
In late 2016, Cinemax announced that they would take Warrior to pilot, but have only just now confirmed that it is being given a full series order. Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the late 1870s, Warrior follows a Chinese immigrant who moves to San Francisco and becomes an enforcer for a local criminal syndicate, while at the same time pursuing his own need for vengeance.
Given the intensity of Cinemax’s style of television, which includes the likes of Banshee and Outcast, the idea of the Warrior series is an intriguing concept that we can’t wait to see come to life.
