New trailer for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ presents beautiful visuals and gripping questions
Since 1982 science fiction fans the world over have been gripped by a burning unanswered question: is Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard a replicant?
From the looks of the new trailer for Blade Runner 2049, it appears they’ll get their answer.
The new trailer was released this morning and showcases some absolutely gorgeous new footage courtesy of master cinematographer Roger Deakins.
Placing their efforts towards practical sets and high-end lighting, Deakins and director Denis Villeneuve present a haunting portrait of the future which is beset by ecological and societal breakdown. Their vision carries on the neon cyberpunk world first presented by Ridley Scott back in 1982 and appears to have heightened it to new levels for a modern audience.
Matched perfectly on screen together are Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. Gosling gives a convincing performance as the cynical, noir detective as LAPD Officer K, while Ford is on edge as the hunted and burnt out Deckard.
You also can’t look past Jared Leto who has considerable creep factor going on as the manipulative replicant manufacturer Neander Wallace.
