While Jared Leto certainly made an impression with his role as The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, many fans were left feeling that the Academy Award winning actor was robbed of his screen time, and didn’t get to truly explore the role.
While Leto’s future as The Joker is still up in the air the actor is now circling a potential adaptation of Bloodshot.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Leto is considering taking on the character of hitman Angelo Mortalli, who after being placed in the Witness Protection program and then betrayed by his handler, is turned into a living weapon thanks to nanite technology before having his mind erased and being thrown out into a savage and dangerous new world. Assuming the name Bloodshot, Mortalli then sets out to exact his revenge.
If Leto does sign on for the role fans of the cult comic could be well pleased as the actor’s legendary method acting could lead to one hell of a crazed performance. With a cool premise and a particularly intense character, it would definitely give Leto a chance to show off another side of himself as a performer.
While it remains to be seen whether Leto will take on the project his schedule is particularly busy at the moment with both the up coming release of Blade Runner 2049 and his new crime film The Outsider coming to Netflix later this year.
