I’m just gonna say it: Guillermo del Toro is a master! Every project he creates is a unique and personal work of art that draws his audience into a beautifully crafted narrative. His latest project, The Shape of Water, could very well be his greatest ever achievement and the masterful director has now released a stunning new trailer for it.
Check out the incredible new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
Charting a unique and colorful love story, The Shape of Water follows the actions of a mute janitor named Elisa (Sally Hawkins) who forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature in a water tank in a covert government agency overseen by the vindictive and ruthless Colonel Strickland (Michael Shannon).
This new trailer for The Shape of Water presents another beautiful piece of work from del Toro. The film clearly examines several of the director’s favourite themes such as the place of monsters in our lives and the romance and love that can develop between outcasts. Both Hawkins and Shannon give utterly brilliant performances, with Shannon absolutely losing it as the crazed Colonel. Plus del Toro regular Doug Jones returns to the screen in some freaky make-up as The Asset and clearly walks the line between strange curiosity and terrifying creature.
The Shape of Water will definitely be a must watch film when it is released on December 8 in the US, and February 1, 2018 in New Zealand and Australia.
