It was an event that shocked the world! And now Ridley Scott is taking the crazier than fiction story of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III to the big screen his new historical high-stakes thriller All the Money in the World.
Check out the new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
In 1973, John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) was kidnapped by a group of Italian Mafiaso who demanded $17 million dollars for his release. However, his grandfather, J. Paul Getty (Kevin Spacey), an oil tycoon with an estimated fortune of over a billion dollars refused to co-operate with the kidnappers and ignored their ransom demands, all of which made an incredibly tense situation far, far worse.
Director Ridley Scott looks to have created an amazingly intense thriller that pulls together some incredible performances from his talented cast which includes Michelle Williams as John Paul’s mother Gail Harris, and Mark Wahlberg as J. Paul Getty’s head of security Fletcher Chase.
But far and away the most amazing performance will undoubtedly be given by Kevin Spacey who looks absolutely unrecognisable as the legendary oil tycoon. His temperament is also in keeping with Getty who was regarded as a miser, and who finally negotiated a $2.2 million dollar ransom to be paid for his grandson’s release….as it was tax deductable.
While we’re a pretty far out from awards season I wouldn’t doubt that All the Money in the World could definitely be leading the pack when it arrives.
All the Money in the World will be released on December 8 in the US and UK and on January 4, 2018 in New Zealand and Australia.
