While he’s known for his tough guy demeanour and action man status, Taylor Kitsch is taking a very different stance channelling true-life cult leader David Koresh in Waco, a six-part miniseries that chronicles the infamous Waco Siege that lasted 51 days and stunned the entire world.
Kitsch has completely transformed himself into Koresh, the charismatic cult-leader of the Branch Davidsons who believed himself to be their prophet, and whose actions lead to the deaths of 79 people. To maintain authenticity Kitsch lost 35 pounds and spoke to real life surviving members of the Branch Davidsons, along with analysing countless hours of video and audio recordings to manifest his portrayal of Koresh.
Paired alongside Kitsch is Michael Shannon as FBI negotiator Gary Noesner who desperately tried to end the siege peacefully and John Leguizamo as Robert Rodriguez, an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the Branch Davidsons, and who found himself sympathetic to their cause and Koresh.
Waco will premiere in January 2018.
