Margo Robbie has proven herself to be one of the most diverse actresses working in cinema today with stunning performances in films such as The Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad. Now the actress dives into a crazy world of obsession, competition and excessive narcissism and self-loathing with I, Tonya.
Check out the new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
Beginning in the early 1980s, I, Tonya, chronicles the rise of American figure skater Tonya Harding, who’s pretty exterior masked a determined and crazed competitive drive. With a narcissistic obsession to win, all of this would lead Harding and her husband Jeff Gilooly (Sebastian Stan) to orchestrate an attack on Harding’s teammate and competition Nancy Kerrigan (Caitlin Carver) at the National Figure Skating Championship in 1994 in an event that shocked the sporting world.
The new trailer focuses in on the tragic relationship that Harding shared with her demeaning and sociopathic mother LaVona Golden who is played in a magnificent performance by Allison Janney. It’s a completely raw mother-daughter relationship and at every point in her life, Harding is viciously attacked by her mother. The trailer also gives an account of Hardy’s relationship with her husband Jeff Gillooly, who is played in peak sleazebag form by Sebastian Stan.
I, Tonya will be released on December 8 in the US, and on February 15, 2018 in New Zealand and Australia.
