Blood, sweat and tears are in good supply in the brand new trailer for A Prayer Before Dawn, a brutal true life story of one man’s fall into the hellhole of prison life, and his redemption through fighting.
Amateur boxer Billy Moore (Joe Cole) finds himself in Thailand where he falls under the influence of drugs and finds himself locked up behind bars in the infamous Nakhon Pathom Prison. With nothing left to live for, Billy becomes obsessed with the Thai martial art of Muay Thai Kickboxing, and in doing so finds his path to redemption as he fights for his life behind bars.
Director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire basks his film in grit and toughness and throws young star Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) into it as Moore. The Muay Thai fighting is incredibly brutal and Cole trained in the art under the real-life Billy Moore for over five months of intense training to learn how to fight and become an intimidating presence on screen.
A Prayer Before Dawn is certainly not a film for the faint-hearted, but for those wanting to experience in-your-face cinema at its best, well, you’ve come to the right place.
A Prayer Before Dawn will be released later this year.
