Taron Egerton is quickly becoming a rising action star and after saving the world in the Kingsman franchise he’s now picking up a longbow and reading to lead a revolution in Robin Hood.
A selection of brand new images have been released which showcase both Egerton’s Hood, and Ben Mendelsohn as the nefarious Sheriff of Nottingham.
While Egerton is clad out in a black leather jacket and stands ready to lead a fight, Mendelsohn’s Sherrif is a radically different character than I was expecting with a long coat and tunic that make him out to be like some kind of medieval gangster rather than then moustache twirling baddie we’ve come to expect from the past.
Director Otto Bathurst is really mixing things up this time with Egerton’s Hood described as ‘a war-weary Crusader who returns to England and incites rebellion as a charismatic anarchist.’
The idea of new Robin Hood is definitely intriguing and I’ll be keen to see how the noted archer’s legendary archery skills are incorporated into the film’s action sequences.
Robin Hood will be released in cinemas on September 27.
