Here’s the synopsis:
Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year-old Simon Spier (Nick Robinson) it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.
Love, Simon looks like a very emotional, yet every day kind of a movie. It’s a film that focuses on the normal things in life, such as the quest for that first great love, although this time it’s lead character Simon happens to be gay and is trying to find his place in the world, while battling the stigmas around him.
Young star Nick Robinson appears to have put in a terrific turn as Simon and makes him as natural as possible. Director Greg Burlanti also has a terrific supporting cast in the form of Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel as Simon’s parents Emily and Jack and they really complement Robinson’s performance very well.
Love is something that we all grapple with Love, Simon appears to take the concept and run with it. I’d certainly bring some tissues along with you as this is one film that will certainly draw out the tears, but I’m certain it will be a winner.
Love, Simon will be released on March 29.
