Every rogue has an origin and now Star Wars fans will get the chance to learn where Han Solo, the galaxy’s greatest ever pilot, came from and just what made him the man he is in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The epic first trailer has been released and it promises plenty of high-octane action and a terrific performance from charismatic young lead Alden Ehrenreich.
Check out the new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in an uncharted galactic frontier, talented young thief and wannabe pilot Han Solo finds himself with the opportunity of a lifetime as he is drafted into a high stakes criminal heist that could very well make him the greatest pilot in the whole of the galaxy.
The first trailer is simply out of this world and really gets your heart racing with plenty of incredible action scenes and some amazing special effects. While Ehrenreich steals the show as Han we also get a look at his companions who include the grizzled criminal and Han’s mentor Beckett (Woody Harrelson), his love interest Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) and the scandalous and smooth smuggler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover).
The film also presents a brand new and polished Millennium Falcon, along with hinting at the origins of Han’s relationship with his loyal co-pilot Chewbacca and his ability to pilot the infamous Kessel Run.
There’s plenty of fantastic Star Wars lore present in Solo, and Ron Howard appears to have done a great job at realizing the film’s Space Western tone. Just as Rogue One distinguished itself as a war movie, Solo appears to be channelling the cowboy charisma of the Western with some quintessential film elements that have been transferred to a galaxy far, far away.
I’m so far really impressed with Ehrenreich’s performance as the young Han and really like how driven he appears to be as the legendary pilot. You absolutely buy that this is a guy who will do whatever he has to do to be the greatest pilot in the galaxy and that nothing will get in his way!
Solo: A Star Wars Story is going to be an incredibly fun time at the movies and fans can look forward to catching up with the scruffy-looking nerf herder when Solo is released in cinemas on May 24.
