Jason Statham. He’s the toughest guy on the plant. No mortal foe can take him on. And now he’s about to wrestle with a gigantic prehistoric shark in The Meg…and it looks like all kinds of fun.
Check out the new trailer below:
Here’s the synopsis:
200 miles off the Chinese coast, a deep sea submarine is attacked by a Megalodon, a giant 75-foot shark that was thought to be extinct for over millions of years. With the ship disabled at the bottom of the sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Statham) and oceanographer Suyin Zhang (Li Bingbing) must quickly work to rescue the crew.
Cycling back to all those fantastic B-Movies and monster smash ups of the late 1960s and early 1970s, The Meg looks like a crazy good amount of fun. Namely by the fact that Statham’s Taylor decides to go mano-o-mano with a humongous prehistoric shark. Whether it’s via a sub, or simply diving head first into the water itself, Statham ain’t having a bar of this prehistoric creature munching down on innocent swimmers and he’s ready to show this shark who really sits at the top of the food chain.
The trailer does a great job at highlighting the thrills that await in The Meg, and the addition of Bobby Darin’s “Beyond The Sea” is the icing on the cake. If you’re looking for thrills, well you can bet you’ll find them in The Meg.
The Meg will be released in cinemas on August 30.
