Walt Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story has long been one film I’ve been extremely excited about and now director Ron Howard and the cast are offering audiences a look inside this compelling space western in a brand new featurette.
Check it out below:
What really appears to be setting this film aside from the other Star Wars films is just how entrenched the Empire is, and how in control of the universe they are. While the featurette doesn’t divulge too many details related to Solo’s narrative or setting director Ron Howard said “the Star Wars universe that we see in Solo is different from anything else that we’ve seen in any previous Star Wars movies. The Empire controls everything. Everyone is struggling to survive, but we discover this incredibly free spirit.”
That free spirit is Han Solo, a young Corellian native who has grown up on the streets, and who has survived by his wits and talent behind the wheel. It also appears from the new footage shown that Han has spent some time within the ranks of the Empire itself, where he was nothing more than cannon fodder, and that experience has left him extremely cynical and completely out for himself.
For Han fans Solo is an extremely interesting film, and something that will really give us a deeper insight into Han and what made him into the man we meet at the Cantina in A New Hope. Part of the fun of Solo will also be that we get to see how Han first met his best friend and loyal co-pilot Chewbacca in what will be a very affecting and moving part of the film.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is the space western that you’ve long been waiting for and it promises to be an action packed ride when it arrives in cinemas on May 24.
