The new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp has just been released and it is a serious bit of fun. And to celebrate it’s release we’re counting down our top five trailer moments.
Check them out below:
If there was a quintessential scene stealing character of the original Ant-Man then it was definitely Michael Pena’s dimwitted, yet lighthearted thief Luis. Along with his spot on timing, and being very proud of his unique rap sheet, which included stealing ‘two smoothie machines’, Luis proved to be a crucial part in helping long-time best friend Scott Lang defeat the maniacal Darren Cross. Now Luis is back, and this time running his own security company and in a move that is pure irony he’s being enlisted to help Ant-Man and the Wasp by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) himself to save the day.
4. The Quantum Realm
Ant-Man introduced audiences to a whole heap of radical new concepts, and one of the most interesting was the Quantum Realm. An entire universe beyond the notion of size or physical structure, the Quantum Realm has immense importance to the lore of the original Ant-Man Dr. Hank Pym, and will play a crucial role in the new film where it’s very likely that both Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne will travel to it.
Marvel has a great knack of introducing fantastic new villains to us with notable entrants including Thanos, Erik Killmonger, Hela and now Ghost! This master criminal, played by Hannah John-Kamen, has stolen Dr. Hank Pym’s research on the Quantum Realm and has used his work to develop a suit that allows her to phase through walls making her a very dangerous adversary. With notions of world domination at her fingers, she’ll prove to be a formidable villain for Scott and Hope to combat.
2. Go Big
It was the moment that completely took us by surprise in Civil War and fans will be very excited to know that Ant-Man will once again be going full Goliath. While his super size altering abilities give him mind-altering feats of strength, director Peyton Reed also looks to be using them to their full comedic effect in some very funny scenes. Seeing Rudd using a truck as a skateboard was an extremely funny moment and the meet up between Scott and former Goliath, Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) where they end up ‘measuring sizes’ definitely had me spinning in laughter. Whether Foster will get to return to his Goliath glory days is still to be seen, but his inclusion in the MCU is a very cool proposition.
But this trailer truly belonged to the double time teamwork of Ant-Man and the Wasp! I can’t pick any one moment that truly defined it for me as this entire trailer was just so good, and both Rudd and Lilly really own their own characters and their position in the MCU together. With a solid tag team fight style, and plenty of banter between the two of them it’s safe to say that the world is in good hands with these two fighting the good fight.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released in cinemas on July 5.
