Jack Black and Cate Blanchett are ready to scare up a storm in brand new frightfest The House with a Clock in Its Walls, which has an intriguing concept and a very clever director pulling the strings.
Watch the brand new trailer now:
Lewis Barnavelt (Owen Vaccaro) is a young orphan who helps his uncle Jonathan (Jack Black) and a witch named Mrs. Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett) to find a magic clock that contains the power to bring about the end of the world.
Adapted from the best-selling books by John Bellairs, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is an intriguing film, especially as it tackles the horror genre head on for a younger demographic. This is a rarity as horror films are normally not made for younger audiences and this one looks to have some very real chills in it.
These chills are the result of the film’s unique director Eli Roth, a man who made a name for himself as a master of gore, but who in recent years has been switching his style up with a variety of new projects including Knock, Knock and Death Wish.
Now he’s directing his first ever children’s film and the result is pretty startling. Roth appears to have gotten some great performances out of Black and Blanchett as well as newcomer Owen Vaccaro. The movie looks like a great watch and it will certainly send a shiver down your spine.
Get ready for a few scares when The House with a Clock in Its Walls arrives in cinemas this September.
