The hustle is about to be redefined with a serious edge in Superfly, a brand new en-visioning of the film that started it all and which is bringing some big time fly to the big screen.

Here’s the synopsis:
Raised on the streets, gang lord and all-star hustler Youngblood Priest (Jackson) has risen to the top thanks to a combination of intelligence, cunning and his own personal moral code. But his desire to leave his life behind is shattered by a dangerous new threat and soon he’ll have to do whatever he has to in order to survive.
A new re-imagining of the classic 1972 blaxploitation masterpiece, Superfly is bringing some bad boy gangsta flair to the streets of Atlanta courtesy of Director X.
Known for his breathtaking music videos including Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ and Rihanna’s ‘Work’, X is swinging for the fences with this gritty crime drama which is very much a morality-play of one man’s desire to get out before it’s to late.
X has a wicked collaborator in the form of rising star Trevor Jackson who is taking over the role of legendary hustler and gangster Youngblood Priest, who has been re-imagined as a smooth operating crime lord who has both the brains and the firepower to make it to the top. But even the best sometimes fall short and Priest soon finds himself in over his head as he faces a bold new threat and finds enemies at every corner.
Jackson is joined by a stellar supporting cast including Jason Mitchell, Lex Scott Davis and Michael K Williams who portrays Priest’s mentor Scatter. And then there’s the bling and there’s a lot of it as Director X draws on Atlanta’s culture, fashion and music to shape this gangster ballad which will also feature a soundtrack by Future. The artist has also released the first single from the film in ‘No Shame’ and the beats really fit the film’s setting and tone.
Get ready for a brand new hustle when Superfly is released in cinemas on August 16.
