Enter the savage heart of the Jungle with ‘Mowgli’ trailer

There are no dancing animals this time. Instead Andy Serkis invites audiences to a stunning adaptation of The Jungle Book which draws from the very essence of Rudyard Kipling’s source material with this epic adventure story in Mowgli.

The new trailer is here and it is packed out with incredible footage. Watch it below:

Here’s the synopsis:

The human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand) raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India learns the often-harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis) and a panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale), Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own, except by one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

The film is an epic undertaking and here Serkis in his second feature film, following the critically lauded Breathe, comes into his own as a filmmaker. While he’s aware that audiences are familiar with Kipling’s story, in Mowgli Serkis cuts right to the very heart of Kipling’s story and paints an all-together darker tale.

A phenomenal cast providing both voice and motion capture have been assembled for Mowgli and feature the likes of Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa and Benedict Cumberbatch as the fearsome Shere Khan. All appear to give phenomenal performances, with both Bale and Cumberbatch really finding their element as the big cats. While Bale brings a sense of honour and loyalty as Bagheera, Cumberbatch is a hollowed out shell of anger and terror as Shere Khan.

In addition to the trailer Serkis has also offered audiences an inside look into the film thanks to a brand new feature which highlights its impressive use of motion capture. The resulting artistry looks phenomenal and audiences should expect big things from Mowgli.

Mowgli will be an astonishing piece of cinema to behold when it is released in cinemas on October 18.
