Sir Peter Jackson and his longtime protege Christian Rivers are ready to unleash a blockbuster of epic proportions upon the world with the fast-paced and colossal steampunk adventure Mortal Engines.
The new trailer has just been released and it is packed to the brim with fantastical imagery. Check it out below:
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in a future dystopian steampunk universe, massive rolling cities battle one another for supremacy and in this volatile environment intrepid young explorer Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) finds himself teamed-up with unpredictable outcast Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) as they try to reshape the balance of power in this strange new world.
Those geniuses at Weta Workshop and Weta Digital have crafted something special here, and the level of detail that they have packed into this ambitious project is pretty incredible. While we got a basic look into the colossal predator cities with the first teaser, here in the new trailer we get to meet the film’s principal characters who include the rebellious Hester Shaw (Hilmar), the bookish Tom Natsworthy (Sheehan) and the calculating villain Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo Weaving).
The level of scope on this project is huge and if you’re looking for a colossal end of year blockbuster, well, you’ll find it here as a whole host of artists and artisans have created an extraordinary feast for the eyes.
If you’re looking for a blockbuster, well, they don’t come much bigger or bolder than Mortal Engines and it will arrive in cinemas on December 13.
