If you love a bit of fashion and are looking for some swing then you’ll find it the gorgeous first trailer for Ladies in Black, a sweet hearted little film that is promising some very big things.
Here’s the groovy new trailer:
Set in the summer of 1959, when the impact of European migration and the rise of women’s liberation is about to change Australia forever, shy schoolgirl Lisa takes a summer job at the prestigious Sydney department store, Goode’s. There she meets the “ladies in black”, who will change her life forever.
Following on from the release of some stunning first-look images, the new trailer offers audiences a look into the coming of age of young Sydney teenager Lisa who desperately wants to attend university and is trying to find her way in the rapidly changing world of 1950s Australia.
Taking a summer job to pass the time she soon finds herself in the glamorous world of a high end department store Goode’s and comes under the tutelage of its stylish staff who teach her in the ways of fashion, life and love.
I’m a big fan of the golden era of cinema and with it’s art deco styling, vintage costuming and hair and make-up and swing band music Ladies in Black is a great homage to that grand era. The story looks especially sweet and cute and I have no doubt that audiences will be in for a real treat with this one right here.
Ladies in Black looks like a real gem and you definitely don’t want to miss out on it when it arrives in cinemas on October 18.
