While Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins might now be back at work on Wonder Woman 1984, they undertook a creepy new project before filming began, and now the trailer for this mysterious new mini-series, I Am The Night, is here….and it’s super unsettling.
I Am The Night is the story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. As she begins to investigate the secrets to her past with investigative journalist Jay Singletary (Pine), she follows a sinister trail that swirls closer to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel, who was involved in the legendary Black Dahlia slaying of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles in 1947.
Adapted from the best-selling book One Day She’ll Darken, by Hodel, I Am The Night appears to be an extremely creepy and dark series that will explore one of Hollywood’s darkest and deadliest secrets in the form of the mysterious Black Dahlia killing. It was a crime that shocked the world in 1947, and one which continues to throw a dark shadow over the glamour of Hollywood.
The trailer is an amazing watch and Jenkins appears to be bringing her same passion and attention to detail that we witnessed on Wonder Woman to this new project. Pine is a pretty wild choice as Singletary and captures the back-listed journalist’s burnout and feverish energy as he slowly becomes obsessed with the story.
If you’re looking for a dark and twisted tale then you’ll be sure to find it I Am The Night and from all accounts it looks like it will be an unmissable event when it hits screens in early 2019.
