Robert Redford. The man is a legend. Now he’s set to give his final performance in a career spanning more than fifty years in The Old Man and the Gun.
Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Redford), a career criminal and bank robber and his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public.
The film looks like a fitting tribute for Redford’s talent and the astounding performer truly gives it his all, in this, his final performance. There’s a terrific sense of joy and accomplishment here on the part of Redford and you can tell that he’s enjoying one last final hurrah as Tucker as he decides to take the police. the public and a few special people in his life on one final wild ride.
With a compelling story, terrific cinematography and some great supporting performances from the likes of Casey Affleck, Danny Glover, Tom Waits and Sissy Spacek, The Old Man and the Gun really pulls from the heart with its unique meditation on life.
The Old Man and the Gun will arrive in cinemas on November 15 and will be a film to cherish.
