Sir Peter Jackson and his long-time protege Christian Rivers are ready to deliver a colossal spectacle with their lavish big screen presentation of steampunk fantasy epic Mortal Engines.
The new trailer is here and it is ENORMOUS. Check it out below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Set in a future dystopian steampunk universe, massive rolling cities battle one another for supremacy and in this volatile environment intrepid young explorer Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) finds himself teamed-up with unpredictable outcast Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) as they try to reshape the balance of power in this strange new world.
Following on from the teaser and first trailer, this new trailer shows off a host of phenomenal footage and really opens up the bold world of Mortal Engines. Those creative geniuses at Weta Workshop and Weta Digital have done some extraordinary work here and Rivers looks to have crafted a film that will grab the attention of audiences the world over.
In addition to the vast visual spectacle up on screen, Mortal Engines also features some compelling performances from both Hollywood veterans such as Hugo Weaving who is playing the film’s fiendish villain Thaddeus Valentine along with newcomers Hera Hilmar and Robert Sheehan who portray vindictive anarchist assassin Hester Shaw and the bookish apprentice historian Tom Natsworthy.
Sci-fi and steampunk fans are just going to adore this film and I can’t think of a bigger adaptation of a steampunk world ever to the big screen and it certainly looks like audiences will be in for a very fun time at the movies.
