The news of Ruby Rose taking on the guise of Batwoman was very exciting news and we now have our first look at this dark protector of the night who is ready to defend justice no matter the cost.
Rose will be portraying Kate Kane, a young women in Gotham City who assumes the mantle of Batwomen after having an encounter with the Dark Knight himself and looking to help those in need and who fall through the cracks. A former West Point graduate and Army Brat, Kane has plenty of skills which make her a dynamic Batwoman and I’m looking forward to seeing what Rose does with the character.
Kane is also one of comics most dynamic and high profile LGBT characters and this fits with Rose’s real life status as a lesbian woman which she shares with the character up on screen and which will be explored in her new series.
Not only does Rose look like she just stepped off the comic pages with this brilliant first shot of her in full costume but she has a deep passion for the character and I can’t wait to see her to bring her to life on screen.
The Batwomen character will be introduced in the Arrowverse crossover ‘Elseworlds’ in December of this year and will follow on from the upcoming seventh season of Arrow and will draw on characters from both The Flash and Supergirl in the episode and there is also talk of a Batwomen spin-off series as well which is a very exciting proposition.
