Jordan Peele is one filmmaker who doesn’t disappoint. And just in time for the holidays he’s offering us a terrifying treat in the form of the first trailer for his much anticipated new horror film Us.
Check it out below….if you dare:
Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilson’s discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.
With a mind that goes completely to left field, Peele’s going to be taking audiences to a very twisted place with Us. While we might only get a little tease into this demented new minefield of scares, the director looks like he’ll out-do his work in Get Out with this twisted gem and they’ll be plenty of screams along the way.
Stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke are in for a messed-up time with this horror ride and their terrifying performances are very genuine in the fear that audiences will get out of Us. Thanks to his cast Peele is able to balance both his new slasher aesthetic and the creepy psychological moments of the narrative.
The Us trailer absolutely scarred the hell out of me and you relive all my moments of panic by checking out my full reaction video below:
With it’s sinister narrative and twisting thrills, Us is one horror presentation that will scare the hell out of audiences everywhere when it arrives in cinemas on March 14, 2019.
