Marvel Studios Captain Marvel is rapidly approaching cinemas and following on from its out of this world trailers we now have a look inside the rigorous training that star Brie Larson undertook to transform herself into a superhero.
Larson spent nine months in training to get in shape for the role of Captain Marvel and her physicality really shows up in the new footage. Co-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck wanted Larson to convincingly portray that she knew how to fight on-screen and its clear from all of the recent footage that her time spent in the gym and on the sparring mat, where she trained in judo, boxing and wrestling, has really shaped her into a formidable force.
In addition to her physical and martial arts training, Larson also got a chance to train with pilots from the U.S. Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base and she even got to take up flight time with members of the U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds squadron.
Inspired by the acclaimed Kree-Skrull War comic book series, Captain Marvel will take Marvel fans right back to the beginning of the MCU and will showcase a whole new side to it that we’ve previously not seen before.
Get ready for a whole lot of spectacle and plenty of fun when Captain Marvel arrives in cinemas on March 7.
