I’m very excited by what awaits us in Robert Rodriguez’s big screen adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel. With its high-action narrative, thrilling CGI and a bold new sci-fi world I think we could be in for one wild ride.

And now thanks to a new trailer we’ve now got a new insight into the film thanks to an epic final trailer. Check it out below:

Here’s the full synopsis:

After she is discarded in a trash pile, cyborg Alita (Rosa Salazar) is brought back to life by the kindly Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) and has to navigate a strange and exotic future world.

A film with such scale and scope demands a gifted director and Rodriguez was well up to the challenge. As a filmmaker Rodriguez happens to be one of my favourite directors of all time and his work including El Mariachi, Desperado and Sin City has always pushed the boundaries, and here in Alita: Battle Angel he gets to do something really revolutionary with both the film’s narrative and its striking visuals.

Alita: Battle Angel was once the long-held passion project of James Cameron, but with Cameron now focusing on the Avatar sequels he has taken up the role of producer instead. But given his immense talent and Rodriguez’s long-held admiration for Cameron I can only conclude that it would have been an incredibly collaborative working relationship and one which has produced a truly intriging piece of science fiction.

Along with the a vast sci-fi palette to play with, Rodriguez also has the support of a fantastic cast which includes Academy Award winners Christoph Waltz and Mahershala Ali, along with the likes of Jennifer Connelly, Michelle Rodriguez, Ed Skrein, Eiza Gonzalez, Jackie Earl Haley and newcomer Rosa Salazar who really steps up with a committed and ethereal performance as the sentient cyborg Alita.

With its daring action and magnificent visual effects, Alita: Battle Angel is a piece of cinema you really need to get to when it arrives in cinemas on February 14.
