Harley Quinn trilogy in the works
Margot Robbie is back in action and ready to bring plenty of sass to the big screen once again as she returns to the crazy of Harley Quinn for the forthcoming Birds Of Prey film. And now there’s a new rumour that the film will be the start of a brand new Harley Quinn trilogy of films.
Cinemabland reported on the rumour which suggests that Birds of Prey, which now bears the official title of Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), will be the start of a new series of film’s following Harley’s adventures through Gotham City and which will also see her re-team with Jared Leto for a solo Harley/Joker film which will explore the couple’s mad love.
It’s definitely an exciting proposition and showcases Robbie’s growing power as a producer in Hollywood. The star has described Birds of Prey as a ‘girl gang’ film and has said that it will be based on a comparatively smaller budget than is normal for a film of this size.
Here’s the full synopsis for Birds of Prey:
Since the events of Suicide Squad, Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime, and Harley Quinn (Robbie) has left the Joker (Leto). When Cassandra Cain, a young girl, comes across a diamond belonging to crime lord Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), Harley recruits Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to help protect her.
I’m definitely excited to see more of Robbie, who recently gave a fantastic performance in Mary, Queen of Scots and if we are getting a new Harley Quinn trilogy then it’s a reason to really celebrate.
Birds of Prey will arrive in cinemas on February 6, 2020.
