‘Bond 25’ is moving forward

Following the reveal of a brand new release date of April 9, 2020, the currently untitled Bond 25 is moving forward into production with casting set to begin soon.

Variety reported that director Cary Joji Fukunaga is on the hunt for a number of key roles in the film with characters that will include two female roles — one a new MI6 agent and the other an accomplice similar to Olga Kurylenko’s character in Quantum of Solace — the main villain, and an American CIA agent similar to Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter.

While it’s all still a rumor mill as to just who will end up joining Daniel Craig, there are whispers that following his Academy Award winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek is entering into negotiations to take on the role of the lead villain who will face down Craig’s James Bond.

In addition to Malek, American actor Billy Magnussen is rumored to be in contention for the role of the CIA operative. Magnussen already has a working relationship with Fukunaga, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he signs onto the film as it moves into production.

Shooting is expected to start later this year, and as Daniel Craig’s final possible performance as James Bond we’ll definitely be excited to see what comes next when Bond 25 arrives in cinemas on April 9, 2020.
