The darkness of the deep arrives in ‘Swamp Thing’

James Wan has been crushing it recently with Aquaman and now the talented director is set to apply his skills to a whole new superhero, with plenty of monster madness thrown in there with Swamp Thing.

The first teaser for the new DC series has arrived and it’s atmosphere creates a creepy and dark mood that we really want to explore. Check it out below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) returns home to Houma, Louisiana to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, where she develops a bond with scientist Alec Holland (Andy Bean). After Holland tragically dies, Arcane discovers the mysteries of the swamp and that Holland may not be dead after all.

This first teaser image might be quick, but it really sets up the dark and gothic mood of Swamp Thing’s setting and we also get a quick look at the monster himself who has been brought to life through practical effects, and who will be portrayed by noted creature performer Derek Mears.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing a series like Swamp Thing to be brought to television for a long time now and judging by what is in front of us this is going to be one very cool watch.

Swamp Thing is set to premiere on May 31.
