Watch the creepy new trailer below:
Here’s the full synopsis:
American couple Christian (Jack Reynor) and Dani (Florence Pugh) are having troubles in their relationship and decide to take a vacation in Sweden to a small village that is hosting a festival held once every 90 years. Unbeknownst to them, the festivities are made up of violent and disturbing pagan rituals and the locals insist that they join.
From the moment it began to roll I was filled with an incredible dread with Midsommar, this trailer is unbelievably freaky and Aster appears to have crafted a film that will unnerve you to the core.
Taking inspiration from the works of Roman Polanski such as Macbeth and Tess, along with having shades of quintessential horror classic The Wicker Man, Midsommar is packed to the brim with pagen dread, and the otherworldly quality that Aster has captured on film really makes for something highly unique.
Rising star Florence Pugh is in for a fright this time and she and on-screen boyfriend Jack Reynor, are in for a very freaking time here, and although this trailer only teases the horrors that are to come, make no mistake, Midsommar is going to be one crazy horror ride.
Get ready to scream when Midsommar arrives in cinemas on August 8.
