Things are about to get savage in Chinatown in Episode 7 of Warrior and all of San Francisco could go up in flames.
Building off of the growing escalations between the Hop Wei and the Long Zii, things build to a major escalation as Father Jun (Perry Yung) targets Long Zii and for death and sends his favoured hatchet man, Bolo (Rich Ting), the Yellow Demon tyo dice them. But if you think Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) is going to let his sister fall to Bolo’s axe, well, think again.
What results is one of Warrior’s best fight scenes yet as Andrew Koji’s Ah Sahm and Rich Ting’s Bolo go head-to-head in a no-holds-barred fight to the death and it sure gets bloody and gruesome. Such expertly orchestrated action set pieces are becoming one of the most defining parts of Warrior, and as these two battle, it out your adrenaline certainly gets charged.
Alongside this escalating Tong War is Big Bill’s (Kieran Bew) own shattered psyche, which are the sins he was forced to perform on behalf of Irish gang leader Dylan Leary (Dean Jagger) really have him worse for wear. Making things worse is also the fact that the supposedly squeaky clean Richard Lee (Tom Weston-Jones ) isn’t who he appears to be and when his secret gets out, Big Bill has to make a choice that brings them back to line and cements their partnership for good.
While this episode really just helps us move forward, I’ve got to say that it’s closing scene is beautifully shot as the Hop Wei and the Long Zii square up for a good old scrap. Oh yeah, things in Chinatown are going to get very interesting indeed.
Warrior screens every Thursday on Neon.
