Here’s the full synopsis.
As a child, Theodore Decker (Ansel Elgort) survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum — an attack that kills his mother. From there, he tumbles through a series of adventures that finds him living in Las Vegas with his deadbeat father and, later, involved in art forgeries.
Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch appears to be an extraordinary beautifully shot film of adolescent torment and self-discovery as one young man’s life takes an unexpected turn. Director John Crowley (Brooklyn) has infused this film with a marvelous creative energy and Elgort’s performance looks particularly top notch.
Another reason audiences should be particularly excited for this new film comes from the presence of Academy Award winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (Blade Runner 2049, Sicario), who will be bringing his special touch to the film. The images present in the trailer look absolutely beautiful and for those desiring a journey into visual splendour, well you’ll find it here.
Brace yourselves for an incredibly moving cinematic journey when The Goldfinch arrives in cinemas on September 26.
