We’re just over a month away from the release of the much anticipated re-imagining of The Lion King and a new spot shows off some gorgeous new footage along with giving us our first taste of Beyonce’s performance as Nala.
Drawing back to the first meeting between a now grown Simba (Donald Glover) and Nala (Beyonce), we get to hear Beyonce’s voice in action as she calls to Simba to remember his destiny and to return to the Pride Lands to accept his rightful place as King.
Intercut with this first meeting between the characters is a host of new footage including the dramatic confrontation between Simba and Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor), along with best-friends Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) who are there to provide back-up to Simba….along with a steady stream of laughs.
Simba, the son of Mufasa and the Prince of the Pride Lands, hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mufasa’s brother, Scar, plots to betray Mufasa and take over the Pride Lands, forcing Simba into exile, where he meets Timon and Pumbaa. Simba has to make an alliance, and rebuild himself fully to take what is rightfully his.
A magnificent journey awaits when The Lion King returns to cinemas on July 17.
