When it comes to modern day movie tough guys Tom Hardy certainly makes it to the top of that list. Whenever you need a badass actor you go to Hardy and with a long list of credits like Mad Max: Fury Road, Peaky Blinders, Warrior and Taboo, Hardy has time and time again proven he’s a man who can play tough.
Along with his acting ability, Hardy has also been a long time supporter of the military and is involved in many army charities, and for a long time has been determined to portray a Special Forces character up on screen.
Well, it looks like he’ll get his chance as he’s now developing a new series alongside Peaky Blinders and Taboo scribe Steven McKnight about the history of the British Special Air Service.
According to Esquire, Hardy is working alongside McKnight on a new series for the BBC that will document the history of the SAS, based on SAS: Rogue Heroes by Ben Macintyre. Hardy has been linked to the role of SAS co-founder and hardman Blair “Paddy” Mayne, who proved to be an exceptional soldier during WWII.
While the series is still in the development phase, it’s a project that I myself would definitely want to see happen and given the BBC’s place as a maker of detailed productions, this series could be one of the most exciting new things to come along on TV.
We’ll have to wait and see where it all goes, but with presence of Tom Hardy and the subject matter of the SAS we could be in for a real treat.
