The film follows the story of US Navy sailors and aviators who persevered through the Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
Emmerich packs Midway out with an incredibly talented cast that includes the likes of Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Mandy Moore, Nick Jonas, Aaron Eckhart, Tadanobu Asano and Woody Harrelson who are assembled together to tell this larger than life story of the US Navy’s greatest ever victory.
Packed full of patriot rhythm, high-end action, larger-than-life special effects and a gripping narrative, Midway puts audiences right into the heat of the battle as the U.S. seeks to recover from the disaster of Pearl Harbour goes out into the unknown to face a cunning and smart enemy in the midst of the Pacific.
Along with the gripping action of Midway, Emmerich also focuses in on the personal sacrifice of the airman and sailors of the U.S. Navy and just how this event would change their lives forever. This is mainly seen through the relationship between Ed Skrein’s Lieutenant Dick Best and his wife Annie (Mandy Moore), as their personal love is tested by the war time actions of the Pacific.
