Neil Gaiman’s masterful graphic novel series Sandman is celebrated as one of the greatest pieces of narrative ever produced and now it is moving forward as a brand new series at Netflix.

An 11 episode series has been commissioned at Netflix. Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman) will serve as showrunner. Sandman creator Neil Gaiman will also be involved, writing the first episode alongside Heinberg and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel, Blade).

The Hollywood Reporter initially broke the story, and confirmed that Warner Brothers and Netflix will be working to bring the story of Sandman to life, and that this series will be the most expensive television series that Warner Brothers has ever produced.

While it still remains to be seen just in what form the series will take place and we are a long way off any kind of development, the fact that we are finally getting a Sandman television series is a cause for serious celebration, and I’m excited to see where this all goes from here.
