The Lord of the Night rises a new in ‘Dracula’

There’s nothing more entertaining than a good vampire story, and now the original creature of the night, Count Dracula, is set to come to Netflix in a terrifying new series from the team behind Sherlock.

The Hollywood Reporter has now offered up our first look at Count Dracula himself in the form of Danish actor Claes Bang and the actor has serious dark presence here in Dracula:

With a strong profile, and a nightmarish energy, Bang has both the presence of Bela Lugosi and Sir Christopher Lee here as he takes on the guise of Count Dracula, and anyone who knows of his presence on screen knows that we’ll be in for a seriously dark treat here.

Known for his appearance in festival darling The Square, the hard-edged noir series The Bridge and his villainous turn in The Girl In The Spider’s Web, Bang will make for a seriously dark and seductive Dracula, and from these first images, it’s clear that he cuts the perfect visual idea of the original vampire.

Adapted from Bram Stoker’s classic horror tale, this Netflix/BBC co-production is being adapted by Sherlock creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for a three episode miniseries and with this level of talent behind the camera we can expect something very dark and menacing.

There’s still no confirmed release date for the series, but Dracula is definitely a project to get excited for when it arrives on Netflix later this year.
