There’s plenty of excitement for the forthcoming Venom sequel which will see the return of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom as he takes on Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady aka Carnage, and now it has been confirmed that motion capture performance legend turned director Andy Serkis is stepping up to take on the the role of director for Venom 2.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Serkis will be directing Venom 2 and the actor appears to be very pumped for the gig.
Serkis took to Instagram to celebrate where he was snapped reading a collected edition of the Venom ‘Lethal Protector’ graphic novel and said, “It’s actually happening. I can feel it, the Symbiote has found a host in me, and I’m ready for the ride…Can’t wait.”
Serkis’ involvement in Venom 2 is sure to get fans excited, especially given his mastery of the subject of motion capture and his ability to bring narrative alive through action and performance.
Then you can also factor in that he’ll be guiding the performances of both Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson, and as alien symbiotes no less and well, you’re soon realise that we’re going to be in for something really amazing here.
There’s still no firm start date for Venom 2 yet, but with Serkis having now closed his deal I’m assuming that we’ll see kick-off of production in the next year or so.
