A brand new behind-the-scenes featurette opens up audiences to the expanse of Ad Astra and Pitt and noted director James Gray (The Yards, The Lost City of Z) discuss the film’s themes and ambitions.

Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
Pitt and Gray really go into amazing detail here with there new work, and both are promising an incredibly lavish and ambitious new film. Described by Gray as “an epic journey through the reachable universe”, Ad Astra looks into ideas of humanity goals for growth and expansion, along with also examining the very heart of the human condition.
Of the film’s dramatic centre point Gray says “Roy thinks that the answers to life’s riddles are in space, and comes to learn that the beauty of life is the human connection.”
Expanding on his director’s statement Pitt said that Ad Astra is “it’s a very human story, about self and discovery of self, what is vulnerability, what is strength, where does strength really come from.”
Ad Astra is shaping up to be an incredibly epic and magnificent feat of cinema and will arrive in cinemas on September 19.
