One of 2020’s most exciting releases is going to be Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984, the much anticipated sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman.

While we have been treated to some first look images from the new film, and the film’s cast have been confirmed as Gal Gadot as Diana/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor and Kristen Wiig as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal’s dapper looking character has so far not been revealed.

However that all changed when Jenkins took to Twitter to reveal Pedro’s casting and Wonder Woman 1984’s presence at this year’s Brazilian CCXP 2019, which will debut the first trailer for the film on December 8.

In confirming the arrival of the film Jenkins also confirmed that Pascal will be portraying classic Wonder Woman super villain Maxwell Lord.

Depicted as a shrewd and powerful businessman, Lord has been a mainstay villain of the DC Universe since the 1980s, and from the film’s setting, and Pascal’s pinstripe power suit look, he’s got a real Donald Trump/Ronald Reagan flair to him and will no-doubt be a dangerous power broker that Wonder Woman will have to contend with.

Jenkins took to Twitter to confirm the character of Lord, and fans are really excited what both the director and Pascal will create here with this antagonist.

Wonder Woman 1984 will have plenty of surprises in store for audiences when it is released in cinemas next year on June 4, 2020.
