Every time we see that Disney-Pixar is bringing a new creation to the big screen we’re always excited and their latest film, Soul, likes to be a multi-layered new project that relates to themes of the meaning of life, creativity and jazz music.
Watch the brand new trailer below for Soul:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a middle school music teacher, has long dreamed of performing jazz music onstage, and finally gets a chance after impressing other jazz musicians during an opening act at the Half Note Club. However, an accident causes Gardner’s soul to be separated from his body and transported to the “You Seminar”, a center in which souls develop and gain passions before being transported to a newborn child, and Gardner must work with souls in training, such as 22 (Tina Fey), a soul with a dim view on life after being trapped for years at the You Seminar, in order to return to Earth before it’s too late.
Beautifully rendered with amazing detail and bringing a real smooth and easy-going atmosphere, Soul looks like a film that will impress both adults and children alike and its match of Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey as two very different characters should prove to be very interesting to see unfold here.
Star Jamie Foxx is absolutely in his element as jazz musician Joe Gardener, and with a supporting set who includes Questlove and Daveed Diggs you know that this film is going to jam just right. Foxx also looks like he’ll have a lot of fun courtesy of Tina Fey as the kooky 22, who looks like she’s definitely going to push his buttons a whole lot here.
Directors Pete Docter and Kemp Powers have really produced something special here and this film looks like it will certainly entertain, along with explore some very high level themes such as creativity, passion, spirituality and reincarnation.
Get ready to feel your heart flutter when Soul arrives in cinemas next year on June 2020.
