When it comes to directors who are exciting to watch they don’t get more creative than director Justin Kurzel (Macbeth, Snowtown) and now Kurzel is throwing plenty of anarchistic rebellion up on the big screen with the hallucinatory tale of Ned Kelly in True History of the Kelly Gang.
Adapted from the critically claimed book by author Peter Carey, True History of the Kelly Gang looks like it’ll be a wildly crazy cinematic adaptation and the new trailer is packed full of punk rock energy.

Here’s the official synopsis:
Spanning the younger years of Ned Kelly’s (George MacKay) life to the time leading up to his death, the film explores the blurred boundaries between what is bad and what is good, and the motivations for the demise of its hero. Youth and tragedy collide in the Kelly Gang, and at the beating heart of this tale is the fractured and powerful love story between a mother and a son.
Kurzel offers up an incredibly original vision here and really taps into the outlaw spirit of the outback with his adaptation. His cast is also incredibly talented here with the likes of George MacKay as Ned Kelly, Essie Davis as Ellen Kelly, Nicholas Hoult as Constable Fitzpatrick, Charlie Hunnam as Sergeant O’Neill and Academy Award winner Russell Crowe as Harry Power.
Get ready for the riot of True History of the Kelly Gang when it arrives in cinemas next year on January 9, 2020.
