It’s been a two-year period since we last heard anything significant about The New Mutants, a brand new take on the classic Marvel Comics teen superhero team which director Josh Boone was going to take in an all-new more horror filled direction and which at the time delivered one hell of a scary rush with its first trailer.
Now, finally, after much delay and uncertainty we now have a brand new trailer which delivers even more horrors than the first and we also have a confirmed release date for this new film with April 2, 2020.
Embrace the horrors of The New Mutants below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Five young mutants, who are held against their will in a secret laboratory discover they are being experimented upon and stage an escape. And in doing so have to overcome their past sins and worst fears.
It’s been confirmed that despite much fear, this film will hold true to Boone’s original vision and audiences will experience the horrors up close and personal with this one as our five young mutants including Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot and Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage must come face-to-face with that which they fear most.
Taking his cues from such classic horror films as The Exorcist, Carrie and A Nightmare On Elm Street, Boone has really pushed for the horror here, and there is plenty to be scarred of with this new footage. While we got our last update about The New Mutants back in January 2019, this new footage is much appreciated and looks totally phenomenal as it promises something altogether spooky and different and which will really give audiences a hellish rush.
Boone has set his focus on adapting the classic ‘Demon Bear’ storyline and while Jon Hamm had been set to take on the role of the classic X-Men villain Mr. Sinister, it’s Antonio Banderas who will be stepping into the role of the lead villain here and audiences had better watch out.
They say mutation is a curse and audiences will come face-to-face with just how horrific it can be when The New Mutants arrives in cinemas on April 3.
